Spring Driver Education registration is open

Mohonasen will be offering a Spring 2026 Driver Education Program. The sixteen-week program will run from February 2, 2026 to June 5, 2026. Registrants must have a driver’s permit before February 2, 2026.

You can register here. Limited spots are available. The program is offered to students outside the district.

Some benefits of completing a Driver Education program include:

  • Most insurance companies offer a discount for completion of an accredited Driver and Traffic Safety Education (DTSE) program
  • Students who successfully complete an accredited DTSE program are eligible for unrestricted driving privileges (Senior License) at age 17 rather than 18
  • Students who successfully complete an accredited DTSE program are NOT required to complete the five (5) hour pre-licensing course prior to their DMV road test

Driving groups meet once per week on a fixed schedule. Driving days/times are Monday: 3-4:30 p.m., Tuesday/Wednesday, 3-4:30 p.m. or 4:30- 6 p.m., with class time being Monday at 4:30-6 p.m. Attendance is mandatory.

All students are also required to attend the classroom portion (Draper room 102) of the session, which will be held on Mondays 4:30-6 p.m., beginning Monday, February 2, 2026.  Please note that students are required to complete 24 hours of in-class instruction and 24 hours of in-car instruction. Therefore, perfect attendance is required.

There are two payment options. The first is to pay online at FamilyID, and the second is to pay with a check made payable to Rotterdam Mohonasen Central School District (add Driver Ed and student name in memo) to be delivered to the District Office. No refunds will be given after the session begins.

Students will be required to attend a mandatory scheduling meeting on Tuesday, January 27 , at the CAT Cafe/Commons (located at the back of the Mohonasen campus) from 2:30-3 p.m. to establish driving times.
