Mohonasen has been recognized as a National Banner School through the Unified Champion Schools program. This is Special Olympics’ highest honor for schools, awarded to those that meet 10 national standards of excellence reflecting an inclusive school climate built on collaboration and respect for all students and staff.
The district’s unified sports program pairs students with and without disabilities as teammates, and currently includes bocce, bowling, basketball and cheerleading. Approximately 75 students participate each year.
