Winter sports athletes recognized by BOE


At the April 23 Board meeting, Athletic Director Matt Ronca highlighted the exceptional accomplishments of Mohon students and coaches during this past Winter sports season.

Girls Bowling and Coach Fountain

The team had an outstanding season, finishing undefeated in the Colonial Council with a 12-0 record, earning the title of Colonial Council Champions. They were also Class A Sectional Champions and placed 2nd at the NYSPHSAA Championships

Several players were recognized for their remarkable performances:

  • Second Team Colonial Council All Star: Miley Fredenburg
  • 1st Team Colonial Council All Stars: Annabeth Borzimouseski, Kianna Macapinlac, Brianna Matteo, Olivia Scepkowski, & Olivia Struffalino
  • High Single in the Colonial Council: Brianna Matteo
  • High Triple in Class A at Sectionals and Colonial Council: Olivia Struffalino
  • High Average & Colonial Council MVP: Kianna Macapinlac
  • Times Union Female Bowling Athlete of the Year: Kianna Macapinlac
  • High Single in Class A at Sectional: Kianna Macapinlac
  • Sportsmanship Award at the NYSPHSAA Championships: Isabella Foltman
  • 300 Game: Kianna Macapinlac
  • NYSPHSAA Composite Team: Kianna Macapinlac & Olivia Struffalino

Boys Bowling

Matthew Rogers, Coach Caruso:

  • High Triple in the Colonial Council. First Team Colonial Council and Colonial Council League MVP
  • NYSPHSAA Composite Team (2nd overall)

Boys Swimming & Diving

Xhayne Epperson, Coach Ardito and Coach Faucett: 

  • Section 2 Champion in the 100 & 50 Freestyle
  • Placed 15th (100 Freestyle) and 23rd (50 Freestyle) at the NYSPHSAA Championships

Indoor Track & Field

Rachel Miller, Coach Denning and Coach Moslander:

  • Qualified for NYSPHSAA meet and placed 27th in the 1500
  • Qualified for Nationals and placed 38th in 1500
  • Broke Indoor Track school record for the girls 2-mile and the 1500 M

Parker Pulenskey, Coach Atwell:

  • Colonial Council Champion- Weight Throw
  • Section 2 Champion (24th at States)- Weight Throw

Boys Wrestling

Nico Rivera, Coach Daley, Coach Kimball, and Coach Lawson:

  • 1st team Colonial Council
  • Class B Champion
  • Section 2 Champion
  • Finished Career with 147 wins (2nd at Mohonasen)
  • 2nd in NYS (Best Mohonasen finish since John Gallo took 2nd place in 1982)
  • Most outstanding Wrestling Section 2 Division 1
