At Mohonasen, therapy dogs have become a comforting and familiar presence for students and staff alike. With more than 10 certified therapy dogs visiting regularly across all grade levels, the district has embraced these furry companions as part of its commitment to student wellness and mental health support.
To help everyone get to know these special animals, the district will showcase a new therapy dog each week.
Bentley

Meet Bentley, a four-year-old Golden Retriever who brings comfort to students and staff at Bradt. His owner, kindergarten teacher Paige Greene, shares how Bentley helps create a calm, welcoming environment for young learners as they begin their school journey. Below is a Q&A with Ms. Greene.
Q: What’s your dog’s favorite treat after a therapy session?
A: Bentley loves sweet potatoes the best!
Q: What’s the funniest thing your dog has ever done on a visit?
A: Bentley quickly learned our routine, and one time we were heading to the carpet for a read-aloud, Bentley beat me to my rocking chair and hopped right in and looked at the class.
Q: Does your dog ever “sense” when someone needs extra love?
A: Yes, he absolutely is in touch with emotions and how people are feeling, especially myself.
Q: What made you decide to get your dog certified as a therapy dog?
A: Being a classroom teacher and dog lover, I always loved the idea of having a therapy dog. When Bentley was a puppy, I could tell that he had the perfect personality and temperament for the job from a very young age.
Q: What’s your favorite memory from working together as a team?
A: I think my favorite thing to see is Bentley in action in the classroom. When he sits with kiddos and really tunes into them and walks over to someone, not because they called him or I asked him to, but because he felt needed.
Q: How does your dog “clock out” after a session—is there a post-therapy ritual?
A: When the vest comes off, we celebrate and get zoomies!
