The district is pleased to announce that Daniella DeLuca has been unanimously appointed as the new principal of Mohonasen High School. DeLuca, who has served as the high school’s assistant principal since 2016, officially accepted the position following the Board of Education’s vote on Wednesday, July 9.
Superintendent Shannon Shine expressed strong support for the decision. “Mrs. DeLuca has provided steadfast leadership at the high school for almost a decade,” he said. “She is well respected by faculty, staff, students and her fellow administrators, and she is the clear choice to assume the role of High School Principal and to continue to move the District forward,” he added.
During her time as assistant principal, DeLuca led numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing student success and well-being. She played a central role in launching PM School and credit recovery programs, helping students to get on track academically. She coordinated personalized academic interventions tailored to individual student needs and supported instructional improvement through her work on the Instructional Leadership Committee.
DeLuca’s leadership extended to building a positive school culture through inclusive events like freshman orientation, spirit weeks, Veterans Day ceremonies and senior events—each designed to foster pride, belonging and joy within the student body. Her commitment to proactive student engagement and behavior support rooted in empathy has helped create a safe, respectful and empowering environment for all.

“I am honored and excited to accept this new position as the High School Principal,” said DeLuca. “Mohonasen is a special place, and I look forward to continuing our work together to ensure every student is supported, challenged and inspired to reach their full potential,” she added.
In her new role, DeLuca will oversee all aspects of Mohonasen High School, including curriculum planning, faculty development, student services and day-to-day operations. She will work closely with district leaders and staff to build on the school’s strengths and ensure a supportive learning environment for all students.
Before joining Mohonasen, DeLuca worked as a high school Spanish teacher at Guilderland High School. She holds master’s degrees in Professional Teacher Education and Educational Leadership and Administration from The College of Saint Rose.
