Welcome to kindergarten!
Prekindergarten Common Core Standards
As standards and expectations have changed over the years for students in grades K-12, so have those for prekindergarten students. We are providing an abbreviated version of the national common core curriculum standards for prekindergarten students, which have been adopted by school districts across New York State, along with example activities parents can do with their child(ren) to reinforce these concepts and skills. Reading with your child: Preparation for school
The best way to prepare your child for kindergarten is to read with him or her on a daily basis. Bradt Primary School offers the 1000 Book Child Project to help jumpstart a child’s love of reading. Read more here. Bradt also encourages parents to use the Kindergarten Tool Kits, which were distributed to parents of incoming kindergarteners at the May 26 parent orientation. Kindergarten registration packets are mailed in early March to families of students in our database who are eligible to attend kindergarten the next school year.
- By mail: District Office, 2072 Curry Road, Schenectady, NY 12303;
- By email: firstname.lastname@example.org;
- By fax: 518-356-8247; or
- In-person, by dropping it off in the District Office main entrance: There will be a bin for your completed registration packets. Please be sure to secure all materials in a sealed envelope labeled with your child’s first and last name and “Kindergarten Registration.”
Parents will need to complete the New Student Registration Form and show proof of the child’s age and residency. Parents are required to provide their child’s birth certificate during this process. Please note that the residency documents are required even if you have a child already attending school in our district. Acceptable forms of proofs of residency for Mohonasen Central School District can be found here. To be clear, you must include immunizations and physicals with your registration packet.
Once your registration is complete and all paperwork is received by the school, you will receive a call to set up your child’s screening appointment and complete additional forms as needed.
The main office is currently in the process of making phone calls to families who have completed the registration process to set up a Kindergarten Screening Appointment. If you would like more information about the DIAL screening, please be sure to visit the KDG Parent Orientation “virtual” presentation. We will also be sending out written notification to confirm the appointments in the beginning of August and to also provide you with specific information related to health and safety measures the school will be taking during the KDG screening process. If you need any assistance or have questions please contact Bradt’s Main office at 518-356-8401 anytime 8-3 M-F. If you have made an appointment and need to make a change due to illness or such, please be sure to contact Bradt ASAP.
Parents who have not already filled out a Preschool Census Form should do so as soon as possible. It should be completed and returned to Bradt Primary School as soon as possible to ensure that registration materials are sent to you.
If you have any questions regarding age or residency documentation, please call 518.356.8401.
Parents who have chosen not to send their child to school for next year, or who are planning to enroll their child in a non-public school, are asked to please notify Bradt school at 518.356.8401 as soon as possible.
