2023 senior information; message from Principal Chandler

Dear seniors and parents/guardians of seniors,

Congratulations on making it this far. We are almost there and have already begun celebrating at many of our awards programs, concerts, and athletic finales. With just over one week of classes left, I’d like to share our plans for Chromebook collection, cap and gown distribution, and our Senior Day.

Chromebooks will be collected by our IT department during all lunch periods, in the Library Lobby, on Thursday, June 8 and Friday, June 9. Some senior teachers have also arranged to collect them in class following the students’ final exam. Please return the charger as well.

Caps and gowns have been distributed to seniors on May 30 and May 31. Any student who did not pick up her/ his cap and gown can stop by the main office at the end of the day, any day. Senior breakfast reception tickets for guests were distributed along with caps and gowns.

Some students have asked if they can decorate their graduation caps. They can. Please be sure that however it is decorated, it still adheres to the Student Code of Conduct.

On Monday, June 12, we will hold what we are calling Senior Day to celebrate all of our seniors. Here are the details:

  • Seniors should arrive at school on time, and report to the gym.
  • Any senior without a Block 1 class (late arrival), should arrive on time and go directly to the gym.
  • Seniors should bring their cap/gown with them to school.
  • In the gym, students will sign yearbooks, receive time capsules (if they completed one), and have a chance to catch up with friends.
  • After a short time, students will don their caps and gowns and walk to Draper Middle School to walk through.
  • Upon exiting Draper, students will board buses to Pinewood and then Bradt to walk through those schools as well.
  • Students will return via bus to the Center for Advanced Technology, arriving at approximately 9:30 AM.
  • A Senior Breakfast reception will be held at the Center for Advanced Technology starting at 9:30 AM. The event is a walkthrough and mingle style event, and does not require all families/ participants to be present at the same time, or to complete the same activities at the same time. Students and their guests will have the opportunity to eat breakfast, pose for a family photo with the graduate, participate in the completion of our senior mural, and enjoy one of many viewings of the senior slideshow. These aspects can be completed in any order, and at any time during the event.  While the event is listed as 9:30-10:45 AM, most families and seniors should be able to enjoy all of the activities within a 30-45 minute window of time.

After the senior breakfast activities, seniors will be dismissed. That’s it for now. You will be hearing from me again soon with detailed specifics for graduation on June 23.

Best,

Mr. Chandler
