The Varsity Winter Color Guard completed a tough but successful weekend of practice and competition at the WGI East Power Regional Championships March 17-18.
On Saturday the 12-member group prepared for and competed in the preliminary competition, facing up against 26 other groups from the eastern region of the country. The group earned a score of 79.28 with a nearly flawless performance, placing 8th and ensuring a spot in the finals.
Sunday morning the team again delivered an impressive performance. The color guard was then treated to watching dozens of other groups from across the country, including seeing class of 2017 alumnus Nafis Wright performing in the Brigadiers Independent Open Color Guard.

In the finale Sunday evening, Mohonasen held their placement in their division but improved their score to 80.11. The group returned home late Sunday night and will continue their jourrney in preparation for this weekend’s competition at Albany High School, the the Mid-York Color Guard Circuit (MYCGC) Championships, and finally the Winter Guard International (WGI) World Championships in Dayton, Ohio.
