During the May 16 annual budget vote, voters will elect two members to the Mohonasen CSD Board of Education. The Board is made up of seven volunteer citizens who are each elected to serve three-year terms. 

School boards are comprised of volunteers within the community who dedicate their time to better public education. The Board of Education oversees and manages the community’s public school system. 

Board Vacancies

The following two Board of Education vacancies are set to be filled in the upcoming election on May 16, 2023.

  • Member for three year term expiring June 30, 2026
  • Member for three year term expiring June 30, 2026


Petitions nominating candidates are now available to qualified District residents and may be picked up at the District Office, 2072 Curry Rd., Schenectady, NY between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.  Please call the District Clerk at 518-356-8210 to schedule an appointment.  

Potential candidates are required to collect 25 district resident signatures of endorsement in order to be placed on the ballot as someone running for a Board seat. Petitions should be filed in the office of the District Clerk between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., not later than the thirtieth (30) day preceding the school election at which the Candidates nominated are to be elected.

Monday, April 17, 2023 by 5 p.m.

Running for the Board

  • Must be a qualified voter of the district, that is: a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age or older, of sound mind
  • Must be and have been a resident of the Mohonasen Central School District for a continuous and uninterrupted period of at least one year immediately before the election.
  • May not have been removed from any school district office within the preceding year.
  • May not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family.
  • May not be a current employee of the school board.
  • May not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office.
