Dear Parents, Faculty and Staff,
I am writing to let you know that the Governor has extended school closures in New York State through and including April 29.
The Governor also indicated there is medical evidence to suggest we may be at the peak/apex of the spread of the virus in New York State. While being at the height of the impact of a viral pandemic is inherently bad news, the silver lining is that this brings us one step closer to coming down the other side of this and makes returning to normal something reasonable to expect in the not so distant future. Put another way, this news gives us hope in a practical way that “this too shall pass”.
For our secondary students, at today’s teleconference meeting of the Board of Regents, it was announced that New York State Regents Exams are canceled for this year. According to Chancellor Rosa, details will be provided tomorrow regarding graduation requirements. Here is a link to the department’s full memo that the board considered and approved.
I will provide additional details to all parents, faculty and staff no later than Friday evening, but didn’t want to wait to let you know about the extension of the school closure and the cancellation of the Regents.
Yours in Service,
