| April 26, 2018
On April 25, a group of fashion-forward students from Mohonasen High School was awarded first place at the 2018 Olympics of the Visual Arts for Fashion, a statewide competition sponsored by the New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA).

The students are members of the school’s Olympics of the Visual Arts (OVA) Club which provides an opportunity for students to participate in individual or group artistic problem-solving. Ahead of the competition, a problem is released by NYSATA and students meet weekly with Club Advisor Christina Mathieu to design a solution to the problem. The theme of the fashion competition was “Things with Wings.”

Students from all over the state work on long-range solutions over several months at their schools and compete against one another during the day-long celebration of creativity. This year’s Olympics of the Visual Arts was held in Saratoga Springs.

Congratulations to the following Mohonasen High School students who worked very hard to turn their concept into a reality.
