Mohonasen High School and Draper Middle School were part of a routine drug sweep performed today, Thursday, Nov. 8, by Rotterdam police officers accompanied by K-9 dogs. Superintendent of Schools Shannon Shine said the routine trained dog sweep is part of the district’s school safety program.

The sweep was coordinated by Mohonasen’s Director of Security James McCrum, School Resource Officer Mike Rumbaugh and the Rotterdam Police Department. The sweep was performed while students were in classrooms.

Shine said the search was a preventative measure and not in response to a specific issue.
