Alan November, a renowned international leader in educational technology, will deliver a free presentation, “Successful Parenting in a Digital World,” on Thursday, March 10 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Mohonasen LGI. The event is co-hosted by Mohonasen and Schalmont school districts.
November, named as one of the nation’s 15 most influential thinkers of the decade by Technology and Learning Magazine, will help parents learn how to guide their children through potential pitfalls and navigate a successful path in today’s digital world. Topics include exploring the impact of social media on student behavior, how to have conversations about what is credible information, and the need for self-direction as part of higher education.
“Now more than ever, parents and schools need to work together to help children navigate this digital world we live in,” said Lisa Cutting, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. “By working together, we can help children understand the role of the Internet in learning as well as the educational and ethical impact of the decisions they make in their time spent online and using social media.”
