| March 6, 2018

Given the forecast for tomorrow and the possibility that the storm may not begin until late morning on Wednesday, March 7, we wanted to alert you that Mohonasen Central School District may call an early release to ensure that students can be safely transported home prior to the anticipated height of the storm. Please note that in case of early release, we will follow usual half-day dismissal times: high school and middle school students would be dismissed at 10:50 a.m.; Pinewood and Bradt students would be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.

We do understand this could present a challenge for families, which is why we are providing as much advance notice as possible. This will give you time to make sure your children know where to go or what to do in the event school closes early.

The decision on whether to close early or to close school completely will be made early Wednesday morning and will depend on the predicted timing of the storm at that point.

As a reminder, it is best to rely on more than one source of information when it comes to weather-related announcements. For additional information on how we make and share  inclement weather announcements, please visit www.mohonasen.org/transportation/weather.

Please be reminded parents who deem roads unsafe for travel due to weather or feel that the weather conditions are not acceptable for their child(ren) to attend school should use their own judgment as to whether to send their child to school or to transport them at a later time. Instructional time is crucial to ensuring our students’ academic success, but the safety of our students is always the district’s number one priority.
