Pinewood’s ‘CANstruction’ is featured on CBS 6 News

Pinewood’s “CANstruction” took more than 500 cans and the work of dozens of students to build.

The CANstruction project was conceived as part of the school’s Earth Day events. It also tied in with a plant unit students in Ms. Vumbaco’s Pinewood class recently completed, as well as their reading of “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein.

High school students in Ms. Battisti’s Introduction to Engineering Design class spend about two weeks building a structure to support the cans. They then spent a morning at Pinewood helping Ms. Vumbaco’s class build the tree.

The cans will be donated to Schenectady City Mission.
