Parent volunteers needed for Draper bank
School Banking Program has established a partnership with Draper Middle School this upcoming school year.
Parents: Are you interested in assisting the program for a half-hour a few times a month? We are looking for parent volunteers from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. on Fridays starting at the end of September. Work once or twice a month, every Friday, or whatever fits in your schedule.
If you’re interested, email School Banking Coordinator Kim Stoddard at kstoddard265@gmail.com.
For students, the program reinforces basic math skills and gives hands-on experience in handling money. Middle schoolers will have the opportunity to earn rewards just by depositing in their account.
More about the program
Students will open a First New York FCU savings account through the school using the application that will be sent home with students (unless they already have an account.)
- The minimum opening deposit is $1. First New York will deposit up to $4 to bring the total to $5. Funds are reported as dividends.
- Every Friday is School Banking Day. There will be a school banking table at the front entrance at the beginning of the school day. Students bring their deposit to school in a special saving envelope provided by First New York. Your child may deposit any amount between $0.25 and $10. They will be provided with a receipt to bring home.
- Every fifth deposit made students receive a prize and every 15th they receive a grand prize.
Students can earn up to $20 per year when they bring their report cards into any local First New York branch.
