MTA raises $4,500, sends meals to essential workers
The Mohonasen Teachers Association, with help from the Physical Education department, thanked Rotterdam’s essential workers through a #thankyourotterdam initiative!
During this initiative, the MTA raised $4,500 thanks to the generous donations of faculty and staff, as well as the Rotterdam community. All of the money raised has been used to purchase meals from Rotterdam restaurants to be delivered to essential workers in Rotterdam.
Some of the essential workers who benefited include: Rotterdam EMS, Gabriel’s Market, Rotterdam Fire #2, Hannaford, South Schenectady Fire, Rotterdam Police Department, The Avenue Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Kingsway Arms Nursing Center, and Mohonasen essential workers.
“We have also ‘paid-it-forward’ for truck drivers and diners to area restaurants,” MTA President Chris Patterson said. “We are so grateful to the many restaurants that helped us spread the positivity including Brown Bag Sub Shoppe, Bagels and Bakes, Tops Diner, 4-Corners Pizza, Lucias Two Go, Pilot Truck Center, De’Angelos, Cusatos, Highbridge Pizza, Nikki P’s, Bellevue Cafe, and Casa Real.”
Additionally, thanks to the initiative, they were able to help a local family impacted by a fire.
“Our Union is appreciative to all of you who aid our community in a variety of ways and those of you who donated to make this project possible!” Patterson said. “#thankyourotterdam”
