The Mohonasen and Schalmont Teachers Associations will host a food drive from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, at Jefferson Elementary School in the Schalmont School District, 100 Princetown Road, Rotterdam.
While the drive is carrying a Thanksgiving theme, the purpose of the drive is to fill the food pantries in schools in both districts, meaning a variety of nonperishable food is needed.
The drive is being supported by Mohonasen High School students who are part of the Developmental Skills and Work Based Learning Team. The students will take inventory following the drive.
Food donations are distributed at the request of students and families and based on need. Learn more about the Food Drive.
Nonperishable food includes: canned vegetables, canned fruits, canned soups, ramen noodles, canned/dry beans, peanut butter, jelly, Knorr pasta sides, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti sauce, pasta, rice, SpaghettiOs and Chef Boyardee, canned meats (tuna, chicken & turkey), bread, cereal, oatmeal, individually wrapped snacks, Pop-Tarts and juice boxes.
