The Mohon Masque spring production of Guys and Dolls has been nominated for seven High School Musical Theatre Awards, the most of any school in the Capital District.
The regional theater awards, which serve to highlight theater arts education in schools and reward excellence in student performance, were introduced in 2017 and are sponsored by Proctors and the Times Union. Nominations were announced at Proctors on May 2, 2018.
The Mohonasen High School musical was one of 23 local productions judged in 12 categories by a panel of educators, industry professionals, and theatre experts. Mohonasen received nominations in the following categories:
- Best Musical
- Best Choreography Execution
- Best Ensemble/Chorus
- Best Actress – Nina Cerniglia as Miss Adelaide
- Best Actor – Zachary Carpenter as Nathan Detroit
- Best Supporting Actress – Sophie Mathis as Arvide Abernathy
- Best Supporting Actor – Nicholas Rivera as Benny Southstreet
Winners that evening in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories will go on to represent Proctors and the Capital Region at The National High School Musical Theatre Awards competition in New York City in June.
Congratulations and good luck to all of the students, staff and volunteers involved in Mohon Masque and Guys and Dolls.
