| May 29, 2019

The Mohonasen High School Jazz Ensemble was one of three area high school jazz bands to be invited to perform for Chuck Mangione at a concert being given in his honor.

Born in Rochester, NY, Chuck Mangione is an American composer, trumpeter and flugelhorn player who achieved international success in 1977 with his jazz-pop single “Feels So Good.” He has released over 30 albums since 1960.

The Mohonasen HS Jazz Ensemble will be performing “Bellavia,” by Chuck Mangione, “Night and Day,” by Cole Porter, arr. by Mark Taylor, and ‘A Quiet Heart,” by Pete McGuinness.  Several soloists within the ensemble will be featured at this concert.  Additionally, the Mohonasen students will have the opportunity to meet and speak with Chuck Mangione at this prestigious event.  Other ensembles that will be performing include the Schuylerville High School Jazz Ensemble, The Saratoga Springs High School Jazz Ensemble and the Avante Garde Drum Corps.

The concert will be held at Lake Avenue Elementary School (126 Lake Avenue) in Saratoga Springs at 7:00 PM on Friday, June 7, and is open to the public.  Tickets are available at https://avantgardealumni.com/

Congratulations to the members of the group for this honor!  We hope that you will consider attending this concert that evening in support of our students.
