Recycled dress made by students for competitionStudents from Mohonasen High School were awarded second place at this year’s Olympics of the Visual Arts for Fashion Competition on April 21 in Saratoga. Students Julia Wingle, Jason MacGregor, Danielle Gibson, Jenny Perretta, Paige Enders, Brinn McDermott and Bruce Phillips worked together to craft a dress made entirely out of paper for the competition.

Their entry was inspired by the challenging theme of the event: trash. Participating students from 18 high schools across New York were tasked with transforming pieces of trash and recycled paper into a fashion statement, performance and portfolio. The MHS students spent months working on their creation after school, and as a result of their hard work, they were able to score a total of 39 out of 40 points in the competition.
