MHS students seek to erase stereotypes, promote unity
More than a dozen Mohonasen High School students have made it their mission to share in difficult conversations with their peers on issues of stereotyping, race and culture. They are part of a three-district “study circle” with other student leaders from neighboring school districts.
Joining students from Niskayuna High School and Schenectady High School, the Mohon group — accompanied by the high school’s No Place for Hate advisor Diane Blinn — is seeking to improve relationships inside and outside the district, with a focus on a common understanding that it is our differences that unite us rather than divide us.
The “study circle” has had two meetings so far: on Thursday, Dec. 13 and again on Dec. 20. The first meeting was featured in an article in The Daily Gazette.
