With the excitement of graduation just days away, the district would like to share some important reminders for our graduates in their families about the days ahead.

Friday, June 23

  • PTSO-Sponsored Senior Breakfast: 10:45 a.m. – noon, MHS gym. Tickets are required. Three tickets are complimentary, and any number of tickets above three can be purchased at the door for $5 each.
  • Graduation Rehearsal: at Proctors immediately following Senior Breakfast, 12:30-2:30 p.m. It is imperative that seniors attend. Students will board buses to travel to Proctors. Students will be transported back to the high school and will require transportation home.

Saturday, June 24

  • Graduation. Seniors should arrive in their caps (mortar boards) and gowns at Proctors no later than 1 p.m. — please report to the Hearst Educational Center, which is underground near the box office. No tickets are required. Proper attire and behavior is expected.

Congratulations to all our graduates and their families — you make us Mohon Proud!

RE: Decorating graduation caps

Over the past day or two we have been made aware that there has been miscommunication regarding decorating mortarboards for graduation.

The district has a long tradition of requiring that students keep their graduation caps free of decoration as a sign of respect and dignity for a ceremony that marks a significant accomplishment in a student’s life.

However, we understand that due to the miscommunication this year, many students have been working on their caps for weeks. Therefore, this year we will allow students who have decorated their mortarboards to wear them during the ceremony provided the caps are appropriate and respectful. For example, students should not use profane or crude language or images, nor should they use slang innuendo referencing activity that would be inappropriate in a public school setting, including violence.

We appreciate your cooperation with our request and are certain that you will rise to the occasion and leave a positive mark on everyone attending the ceremony. We look forward to seeing each of you at Proctors on Saturday.
