| October 12, 2016

At the start of the school year, Mohonasen High School faculty and staff took part in a special professional development activity aimed at bolstering a supportive environment for students throughout the year ahead.

Activity participants were greeted with large posters listing the names of each student at Mohonasen High School and were asked to make marks next to the names of the students with whom they have had interactions with in the past. This visual representation helped school building leaders, teachers and support staff to see which students seemed well-connected with faculty and staff members and which students had flown under their radar.

In an effort to make all students feel welcomed and supported at Mohon, the goal of the activity was to help frontline educators and support staff take notice of students who had few connections and make an active effort to ensure all students understand that they can approach faculty and staff members at any point during the year for help.

At the end of the year, faculty and staff will participate in this activity once again to evaluate their efforts and progress toward fostering more connections between students and the entire Mohonasen school community.
