At the Oct. 8 Mohonasen CSD professional development day, 30 faculty and staff members became certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid. The program was led by Mohonasen instructors Diane Blinn, Robert Stranahan, and Melissa Gregg.

The course teaches skills for providing initial help to a young person experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.

Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches adults (parents, family members, caregivers, school staff and other caregivers) how to help children in crisis or experiencing addiction or mental health challenges. Topics include anxiety, depression, substance use, instances of psychosis, ADHD, eating disorders and other disruptive behavior.
