Mohonasen parent presents to class

Mohonasen High School students in Mr. Reluzco’s Principles of Engineering class welcomed a guest speaker with industry experience and ties to close to home in their classroom earlier this week. Rusty Bascom, a Mohonasen parent and a principal engineer for Electrical Consulting Engineers, PC, spoke with the students about their interests in the field of engineering, career options, colleges, paths of study and future opportunities in the industry.

In addition to sharing his own experiences and outlining his academic and career path, which brought him to both Hudson Valley Community College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for electrical engineering, Mr. Bascom was also able to show the students samples of the electrical wiring he routinely designs in his position. His multi-faceted presentation helped students to connect practical examples of the material they study inside the classroom to long-term career and professional trajectories.
