| April 22, 2016

Draper Middle School students in Mrs. Degnan’s English Language Arts class participated in an exciting poetry slam this week. Students created their own poetry chapbooks containing their own original poetry and two of their favorite published poems, alongside analyses of the poetic devices and themes of each work.

During the poetry slam event, students read at least one of the poems from their chapbook, and their classmates voted for their favorites in best original poem and best published poem categories. The proud winners of the original poetry contest were seventh-grade students Emma Duell, Mya Cordy, Natalie Blackstone, Matt Sheremeta, Elisha Rogers and Gabby Monroe.
