Caitlyn Richmond (JV Girls Basketball)

Caitlyn scored 14 and 13 points respectively in her final two games of the season. She fought hard all year long in a challenging season. She hit the floor for loose basketballs and battled through injuries. She led the team in points and minutes played. Her efforts were rewarded as she was called up to the varsity team for sectionals. Congratulations, Caitlyn!

February 3

Congratulations to Tristin Bennett (Varsity Cheer) and Nico Rivera (Varsity Wrestling) for earning WOW (Warrior of the Week) honors for the week of February 3rd.

Tristin Bennett (Varsity Cheer)

Tristin is a true leader on this team. Aside from being very talented, Tristin is reliable and always supportive of her teammates. She brings a positive attitude to every practice, game and exudes true Warrior spirit on the competition floor. She is a big reason why Mohonasen cheer is off to an outstanding to their competition schedule (5 Consecutive Division Championships, 4 Grand Champions).

Nico Rivera (Varsity Wrestling)

student wears a warriors tshirt and smiles. warrior is displayed in the background.

Nico Rivera is the only 7th grader on the varsity wrestling team. He entered the Class B Sectional Tournament without much varsity experience. He earned an opportunity to compete in the tournament and took 3rd place. Nico hasn’t missed a single practice this year. He has started to focus more on his academics and is starting to see that hard work pay off as well.

January 27

Congratulations to Isaac D’Allaird (Varsity Indoor Track) and John Mauceri (Varsity Bowling) for earning WOW (Warrior of the Week) honors for the week of January 27th.

Lucas Gannon (Varsity Swimming)

student wears a warriors tshirt and smiles. warrior is displayed in the background.

Lucas has steadily improved his 200 and 500 freestyle throughout the year and is currently ranked in the top 3 in Division 2 in the section. At a recent swim meet @ Glens Falls, Lucas took 1st place in both of his individual events as well as his relay team. Lucas works incredibly hard everyday, often doing practice sets that are longer and higher in intensity than the rest of the team. He is coachable and always does his best. We can’t wait to see how he does at sectionals.

Rachel Miller (Varsity Indoor Track)

student wears a warriors tshirt and smiles. warrior is displayed in the background.

Rachel, a 7th grader, has had an outstanding first season of indoor track. She has become one of our most important team members at the varsity level. At the Ocean Breeze Invitational on January 26th, Racehl won the Freshman 1 Mile Championship by over 5 seconds. Her mile time placed her as the #1 7th grader in the nation by 4 seconds. Her 3000 meter time is 2nd in the country for 7th graders. Rachel is mature beyond her age and works hard every day.

Javon’s season has taken a full 180. He has really stepped up as a leader and role model to his teammates. Facing a 13 point deficit at Ichabod Crane on January 15th, Javon led his team in assists and went 6 of 8 from the free throw line to help his team come from behind for the win. Job well done, Javon. Keep up the great work!

Jan. 6

Congratulations to TJ Pierce (Varsity Hockey) and Victoria Hladik (Modified Basketball) for earning WOW (Warrior of the Week) honors for the week of January 6th.

TJ plays on the GMSVS varsity hockey team. This is a 5 team merger between Guilderland, Mohonasen, Scotia, Voorheesville and Schalmont. The combined team is called the GMSVS Storm. TJ, who is one of five players from Mohonasen, scored his 4th goal of the season in a 2-1 win over Shenendehowa last week. This was the first time that the GMSVS Storm has ever beaten Shendehowa! Since beating Shenendehowa, the team has added wins over Albany Academy and Queensbury. They are unbeaten in league play (6 and 0). Next up is a showdown with Bethlehem.

Victoria Hladik (Modified Basketball)

Malachi Vice (Basketball)

Malachi values team success over individual glory.  He is never late to practice, never has a negative attitude, always listens to coaches and always pushes his teammates to improve. Coming off a JR season that ended with a torn ACL, Malachi is a regular contributor for the varsity basketball team this season. He is trusted to defend the opposing team’s leading scorer day in and day out and he does a great job.  On Friday, Dec. 20, Malachi scored a career-high 11 points over Voorheesville. Malachi is a true Mighty Warrior. Congrats!

Breanna scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a come from behind victory over Ichabod Crane last Friday.  Breanna is 31 points shy of 1,000 in her varsity career at Mohonasen.  If she is able to accomplish this feat, she would be one of a handful of female basketball players in Mohonasen history to surpass the 1,000-mark.

Liam proved all season long to be a great teammate while doing his best to lead a JV football team through a very difficult schedule.  Liam was called up to the varsity team last week for its crossover game @ Gloversville.  Liam started at running back and at safety.  He excelled at both positions.  As a running back, Liam broke out for several long runs, setting up scoring drives for the Warriors.  As a safety, Liam recorded his first career interception!  Liam has constantly stepped up when called upon and will undoubtedly be a great leader for the varsity team in the near future.
