Bradt students spread joy this holiday season

Bradt students in Ms. Tracy’s kindergarten class helped spread holiday cheer to seniors across the country with their pen pal project. Students created holiday cards for local seniors living in assisted care facilities as well as communities in North Carolina and Connecticut. The class completed 45 cards.
The idea started when Tracy’s daughter saw a post about seniors wanting pen pals. She knew it would be the perfect holiday project for her class.
“My students loved the idea of brightening someone’s day, which is what I hoped they would learn from the experience,” said Tracy. “The project helped them understand how easy it is to make a difference, even as a child, in someone’s day.”
Tracy plans to continue the pen pal project for Valentine’s Day, and she hopes to work with the facilities so her students can address each card to individual seniors.
“Seniors have all the wisdom of a life well-lived and are often overlooked. Seeing my students’ excitement in doing something nice for others was by far one of my favorite moments this year,” Tracy said. “I loved knowing we were able to make the seniors smile, even if only for a moment.”
