Please note that the plan details and components are subject to updates and changes.
The plan outlined here is for the reopening of schools in the Mohonasen Central School District for the 2020-21 school year.
Instruction and Supports
Mohonasen is creating plans to maximize grades K-5 daily, on site, instruction. For students who attend Draper Middle School or Mohonasen High School (Grades 6-12) the district is planning for an alternate/rotating day model with one-third to one-half of the students coming to school on any given day. Students in self-contained, special education programs will be on site daily when school is in session.
The district’s official start date may be shifted if there is a need to use additional days to orient and train teachers and staff prior to school starting.
Breakfast and lunch will look different both in terms of location and in terms of serving.
Health & Safety
Students and staff will wear face coverings consistently, except when engaged in instruction and seated at a desk that is physically distant from peers and staff.
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection in the district, facilities operations will be geared toward meeting social distancing requirements and frequently cleaning high-touch spaces.
There will be no field trips and extra-curricular activities will be examined to determine which can be conducted virtually.
Attendance and Chronic Absenteeism
Attendance will be recorded daily for all, including students learning in person and while in a remote or hybrid model.
Face coverings will be required on school buses.
SchoolMessenger is the district’s mass communication tool for reaching parents and is capable of emails, texts and phone calls.
