| October 29, 2020

Dear Parents, Faculty and Staff,

I am writing to further update you regarding the COVID cases at Mohonasen. The suspected third case has now been confirmed as positive. These three cases are related and it is believed they stemmed from out-of-District contact where the safety protocols which are in place at school were not followed outside of school. Only two of these individuals have been on campus and when they were present they were asymptomatic and unaware that they would later test COVID positive. Contact tracing for the third case has resulted in additional students and staff being quarantined. Altogether we now have 24 students and 4 faculty/staff members being quarantined per the Schenectady County Department of Health.

In addition to the three related COVID-positive individuals discussed above, as of today there is a fourth case of COVID from an individual at Draper Middle School. Contact tracing has just begun so it is not yet known if this case is related to the three other cases. It is also not yet known how many students or faculty/staff members may be quarantined as a result of this case.

As a continued reminder, should you, if you are a staff member, or your child, if you are a District parent, be identified as having been in close contact with a COVID-positive individual, the Schenectady County DOH would be contacting you directly.

Yours in Service,

Shannon Shine
