36 Mohon drivers lauded for 416 total years of safe driving
Thirty-six of Mohonasen’s bus drivers were recognized for a combined 416 years of operating vehicles without experiencing preventable accidents. Bus Driver Raymond Slingerland is solely responsible for driving safely for four decades and was awarded the Golden Steering Wheel by the Mohonasen Transportation Department.
Utica National, the company which insures the district’s vehicles, annually recognizes safe driving records as part of its Safe Driver Program.
“I am proud of our entire transportation staff,” Director of Transportation Randolph Jerreld said. “It is no small feat what they do each day, getting over 100 students on two runs to school and home each day safe and sound. They drive with the challenges of ever-increasing traffic, dangerous drivers who don’t stop for school buses and poor weather conditions. My staff of drivers, the attendants and monitors who support them, do a great job.”
