High school student reads to classroom of younger studentsOn Thursday, Feb. 16, Pinewood Intermediate School students were treated to special visitors in their classrooms throughout the day — members of the Mohonasen High School football team.

In an effort to foster a positive partnership between students across Mohonasen schools, the student-athletes were invited to serve as in-class guest readers for students in grades 3-5 as well as assistants in physical education classes throughout the day.

Under the guidance of classroom teachers, the players treated Pinewood students to a number of stories, often with a humorous or athletics-focused twist, and worked closely with Pinewood physical education teachers to help instruct, monitor and even participate in gym-class activities to encourage the younger students to devise solutions for strategic exercises, work as a team with their peers and stay active.
