"I am a Sumerian"
Poster Project

Create a poster making believe that you are a Sumerian from somewhere between 3500 BC and 1700 BC.

Mesopotamian civilizations were from long ago. Mesopotamia is Greek for "between the rivers." The southern portion of Mesopotamia was called Sumer. The Sumerian civilization began around 3500 BC and  was destroyed by foreign invaders around 1700 BC.

Many people settled along the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. This area was known as "The Fertile Crescent." The area is now known as "The Middle East."

Use the the
Ancient Mesopotamia
page
and the
British Museum's Mesopotamia site

and the
Life in Mesopotamia page
to collect at least 10 facts about Sumerian life. Create a poster as if you are a Sumerian citizen. At the top, the poster will start something like this

Make sure that you identify the year that you are living in. Talk about who is ruling, inventions, etc. Convince the reader that you know about what it was like to live back then.

At the bottom of your poster you must cite your sources of information. Here are the citations:

Snyder, Marsha. "Mesopotamia." Online.  <http://www.ed.psu.edu/k-12/edpgs/su96/meso/mesopotamia.html>
26 September 2005.

Use COPY and PASTE to put the citations at the bottom of your poster.

Here is a link to some graphics. This link is only active during the week that we complete this project.

If you use graphics, they must be properly cited. Each image citation tells the reader where you found the image and who it was created by. Your poster will lose points if any graphic does not have a citation.
