BIG
TURNOUT FOR BIGGER,
FASTER STRONGER CLINIC --

The Mohonasen Sports Boosters sponsored a "Bigger, Faster, Stronger Clinic" on
Saturday, June 21 where approximately 200 students in grades 7-12 learned
how to improve their athletic performance both on and off the playing
fields. "Getting better on the playing field will require athletic
discipline and a commitment to work out year-round," says Mohonasen
Athletic Director Timothy McNamara. Students were shown how to
systemically maximize their athletic potential and improve their overall
fitness levels through careful attention to things like: rest and
nutrition, year-round training, record keeping, sprint and agility
training, endurance and flexibility training, as well as strength and
skills training.
Mohonasen coaches, who have also been training in the Bigger, Faster,
Stronger program, will incorporate these techniques in all interscholastic
sports programs this year.

SPORTS PHYSICALS -- To play on a team, or
even practice, students must -- by law -- have a sports physical on file
with the school nurse. The physical must be dated after June 1st to cover
students through June of the following year. The physical can be performed
by a student's family doctor, but Mohonasen's health physical form for
Grades 6-12 (also available from the school nurse and sent home with report
cards) must be filled out. Students also have the option of having a free
sports physical performed by the school physician. Students are asked to
please sign up for school sponsored sports physical, in advance, in
the nurse's office.
Note: If more than 30 days have passed since the physical was performed,
in order to participate on a school sports team, a Sports
Health Update Form must be filled out, signed by a parent and turned
in to the school nurse.
