Bradt and Pinewood schools have hired a first-shift building monitor at each building starting Jan. 2, 2007.
In light of recent events related to school safety, the district feels the time has come to enhance the security precautions already in place.
Both Bradt and Pinewood are taking advantage of this opportunity to tighten up
their overall building security. While these additional procedures may seem like an inconvenience from time to time, please keep in mind that
the school's priority is the safety of its students, faculty and staff.
The procedures include:
- There
will be only one unlocked door at the main
entrance. ALL OTHER exterior doors will be closed and locked 24/7.
- Faculty and staff will continue to be the only adults allowed beyond the main lobby between
8 a.m. and 9 a.m., and 2:30-3 p.m.
- The
monitor will receive any items parents need to drop off during the day (i.e. library books, sneakers, snack), and will see that the student receives the item.
- The
monitor will maintain a list of
parents/volunteers who have appointments in the building, between
9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., and will check visitor's IDs, supervise sign-in, and fill out visitor
badges, which must be worn where they can be seen.
- Parents may sign-in with the Building Monitor and receive a visitor badge to eat school lunch with their child.
- Visitors will sign-out and remove/discard their badges when they leave.
- Visitors
will see the monitor to sign-out a child for early dismissal if
they have previously notified the office. (i.e. sent in a note that morning).
- Visitors
will report directly to the office to sign-out a child
if they have not previously notified the office.
We appreciate
everyone's cooperation and understanding.
