The 17th annual Graduation Speaker Contest for the Class of 2007 was held on Thursday, March 22. Speaking candidates in the contest included
C. Satterlee, K. Clough, C. Guidarelli, J. Woodward, C. Goodwin,
J. Mattice, A. Audino, and C. Demartino. The contest was viewed by all honors English students at the high school. All eight speeches were extremely well-written and delivered.
Judges for the competition came from area businesses, the news industry, and politics, and included: Paul Tonko, Assemblyman to the 105th Assembly District, FOX 23’s Rich Becker, Michelle Marsh of CBS 6 News, and Carol Merrill-Mazurek, Director of Services to Women and Families at the YWCA.
The two winners of the competition were J. Mattice and
C. Demartino. They will both be the speakers at this year’s commencement ceremonies at Proctors Theater on Saturday, June 23.
C. Guidarelli will give the greeting at graduation and
C. Satterlee will deliver the farewell for the ceremony. The other contestants will have the opportunity to speak at the Senior Breakfast on Friday, June 22.
