Earlier this year, Pinewood Elementary School applied for and received a grant from the Mohonasen Foundation for Excellence
to supplement the classroom music program.
The new instruments include five contrabass bars and an alto glockenspiel. Glockenspiels are small instruments; small enough to be held in one’s lap.
This grant made it possible to send a bass xylophone and soprano glockenspiel down to the music classroom at Bradt. Now, more students there will have a chance to play at an earlier age, leading to more advanced musical work when they move up to Pinewood.
Mr. Browne’s fourth-grade class was "instrumental" in receiving this grant. They demonstrated the proper use of Orff instruments for a member of the Foundation’s committee.
The Mohonasen Foundation for Excellence
funds projects that encourage original approaches and inventive means for attaining educational excellence through grants to teachers.
