The Mohonasen community bid a fond farewell to their Transportation Supervisor Ellen Godlewski, who retired in January after 25 years of service.
Godlewski started working at the district in 1982 in the business office. After Mohonasen and Draper School Districts merged, she went over to the Transportation Department where she stayed for 20 years, the last five of them being supervisor.
“I am going to miss everyone at Mohonasen, but I will miss the kindergartners the most,” said Godlewski. “Working with kindergarten students is so exciting because it’s their first experience away from their parents. I would always try to make it a good experience.”
Among the many responsibilities as Transportation Supervisor, Godlewski’s primary concern was safety. “As supervisor I made sure that the kids, drivers and bus routes were as safe as possible,” said Godlewski.
“We are grateful to Ellen for her many years of service to the district and her dedication to the students of Mohonasen,” said Assistant Superintendent for Business Denise Swezey. “She will be missed by everyone.”
The Mohonasen Board of Education has appointed Daniel Lucca as Interim Transportation Supervisor to finish out the school year. Lucca worked for the district in various positions for 37 years, with his last placement as Draper Middle School Principal, before retiring.
While Godlewski is sad to be leaving a district that she has been a part of for so long, she is looking forward to retirement. Next fall she plans to tour the United States.
