American Grill Owner Evan Christou handed Pinewood Principal Dr. Michael Johnson a $500 check to go toward the school’s playground fundraising efforts.
The money was raised because of the collaboration between Tops and Pinewood Elementary School to host a “Pinewood Night Out” on Jan. 22 and 23. Partial proceeds from each meal ordered on the two days went toward the fundraiser — and the response was overwhelming.
“The community really embraced this event and it’s our pleasure to give back to Pinewood and our community,” said Christou.
Christou’s daughter, Arianna, is a fifth-grade student at Pinewood. She will be able to see her father’s generous donation go to work as the new playground comes to fruition.
“Evan Christou is a very positive supporter of our schools and the ‘Pinewood Night Out’ at Tops is just one example of this community’s support and generosity,” said Principal Dr. Michael Johnson.
Tops American Grill is located at the Five Corners is Rotterdam, and they are open from 6 a.m. to 12 midnight.
