Pinewood students recently raised $2,551.50 for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, through the Student Council coin drop.
Each classroom had a jar in which students could donate money — extra change from lunch or change from home — from Dec. 4 through Dec. 21.
“We do offer the incentive that the class in each grade level that raises the most money gets a pizza party, but many times the students are donating out of the goodness of their hearts,” said Carrie Townsend, fourth-grade teacher. “I’ve had many who said they don’t care about the pizza party, they just want to help someone else.”
That said, the classes that won the pizza parties for collecting the most money were Mrs. Amering’s third-graders, Ms. Brousseau’s fourth-grade class, and Ms. Buzzo’s fifth-grade students. Congratulations!
A
special thanks goes to Student Council Co-Advisors
Amanda Brousseau and Carrie Townsend for coordinating
this event.
