153 honored at high school's academic letter ceremony

Parents, faculty and other members of the Mohonasen community came together on Dec. 3 to honor 153 high school students who were recognized for their academic achievements at the 6th annual Academic Letter Awards Ceremony.
"This academic achievement takes the idea of the athletic letter and brings it into the academic realm," High School Principal David Collins said.
In order to receive an academic letter, students must earn a 90+ average for three out of four consecutive marking periods in the previous school year.
If a student achieves this for two years in a row, he or she will receive an academic pin.
After three years of hitting this mark, the student will receive a plaque.
"We couldn't be more proud of the students who received these awards. We're talking about elite students, high caliber, always giving that extra effort to achieve the best that they can possibly achieve in the classroom," Collins said.
"With the support of their teachers and the support of their parents, these students have certainly risen to a level of academic excellence here at Mohonasen."
