Music Festival

Draper Middle School 6th Grade Orchestra, 7th/8th Grade Orchestra, High School Orchestra and Select Orchestra

Our music competition trip is fast approaching. We are very excited about the hard work and dedication that the students have put forth towards this performance and are looking forward to a great musical experience. Our trip is Saturday, May 17th.   Students are required to wear their Draper Music t-shirt the day of the trip. Students can wear shorts, capri’s, etc. on the bottom. Please wear comfortable shoes.  Students should plan to bring a snack and a bag lunch to eat on the bus.  We will not be able to purchase more food until after our performance when we enter the park.  Students must bring their own money for food to eat in the park and any souvenirs they wish to purchase. We encourage students to bring a water bottle (most times parks will allow you to bring this inside the park). There will be buses designated for the choir and buses designated for the Orchestra. Any 7/8th grade students in both choir and orchestra should plan to ride on the 7/8th grade orchestra bus. Each person riding the bus is asked to bring $2.00 to put towards our bus drivers tip. Please give this to your teacher prior to Saturday. Thanks! After our performance we will arrive at Six Flags and break into pre-determined groups with chaperones. Students will be allowed to enjoy the park and rides until the time of the awards ceremony. Students must follow the schedule below to make sure we arrive at the awards ceremony on time so that we may all sit together as a school. Students are reminded that behavior is not only expected, it is graded on as part of the competition. Two years ago Mohonasen won the prestigious award for being the school that best represented proper musicianship, behavior and attitude. Let’s win it again!! Final Trip Information Saturday, May 17th 6am: Wade Tour Bus Arrival 6:15am All students must be at Draper Middle School to load our 3 coach buses. (Students should be wearing their Mohonasen Music T-shirt. Orchestra Students should come with their instruments already, please don’t leave them in the building. We will not have access to the high school that morning. ) 6:30am Coach buses will depart for Massachusetts. (We have a tight schedule, so the bus will leave without you if you are not on time. Please set your alarm clocks!) Students will load the coach buses according to what ensemble they perform in.    Please check your bus list as you load your bus. 8:30(aprx.) Students arrive at Competition site (Holyoke HS). Upon arrival teachers will register the performance groups.  Students will have to follow directions on where to wait while teachers are checking us in.  Students will be expected to wait quietly.  Performance Schedule: *Groups should be able to watch their peers perform while they are waiting. Draper 7th/8th Orchestra: Warm up 8:50am Perform 9:15am Mohonasen Select Orchestra: Warm up 9:40 Perform 10:05 Draper Select Choir: Warm up 10:20 Perform 10:40 Mohonasen High School Orchestra: Warm up 10:30 Perform 10:55 Draper 6th Grade Orchestra: Warm up 11:20am Perform 11:45 As soon as the ensembles are finished with their performances the groups will reload the coach buses and head for Six Flags New England. (Students in both Choir and Orchestra will return to join the Orchestra after their choir performance and travel with us to Six Flags) Aprx. 11am Choirs load choir bus and head to Six Flags Aprx. 12:05am Orchestra’s load bus and head to Six Flags Upon arrival students will join together into their groups for the day.  As soon as the groups have been formed they will receive their entrance bracelet/ticket from their teacher (either Ms Gabriel or Ms Kondenar).  5:15pm Students and parents meet at the Six Flags New England Pavilion for the Awards Ceremony. 5:30pm Award Ceremony begins. (Mohonasen groups will sit all together as a school to show support for all of our groups performing.  Students are reminded to show respect for all the groups that performed this weekend. Remember the judges often do not only judge on our musical performance). Aprx. 6:30pm Award Ceremony ends.  Students take group photo with teachers and hopefully trophies J  After taking group photos we will return to our coach buses in the parking lot.  We will take final attendance and return home to Draper Middle School. Aprx. 9pm Students return to Draper MS (this time may vary slightly due to traffic, etc.)
