Ms. Ruckert's Course Outline

Ninth Grade

High school is a new world to our ninth graders. They may feel overwhelmed with their new lives as high school students. That is why it is important for these students to have structure and organization in their lives.

Global studies is a two year course, designed to take students from ancient origins of man to present day world affairs. In ninth grade we begin our study with world geography and human origin and progress to the age of exploration. By the end of ninth grade students should be proficient in these studies

Tenth Grade

Tenth graders now have the experience of what it is like to be a high school student. Tenth grade is a benchmark year with the culmination of global studies with a regents exam.

In tenth grade students are beginning the second leg of global studies. We begin the course with a brief ninth grade review,  then progress through the Enlightenment period, French Revolution and onward to present world affairs. At the end of tenth grade students are expected to display their knowledge through a regents exam. The global studies and geography exam is the tougher of two  social studies exams for the reason that is covers two years of materials. REGENTS REVIEW WILL BE PROVIDED TENTH PERIOD DURING FOURTH QUARTER ATTENDANCE IS ADVISED.
