Rules & Guidelines

CLASS RULES

1.        BE ON TIME. When the second bell rings you should be in the locker-room. Five minutes after that you should be changed and waiting in the gym. NO HORSEPLAY is to take place.

2.        CHANGE FOR EVERY CLASS. To be changed means you wear a pair of sneakers, and a different t-shirt and pair of shorts/wind pants than you wore to school. (Be prepared to go out if the weather is 50 degrees or warmer.) NO PRACTICE GEAR OR TEAM UNIFORMS ARE TO BE WORN IN CLASS. If the class is swimming you must have a bathing suit and a towel. Cover-up shorts and white t-shirts are optional. Shorts with belt loops, high soled sneakers and canvas shoes are not permitted. Reminder: You must change back to your school clothes after each class. BRING IN EXTRA CLOTHES TO PUT IN YOUR LOCKER.

3.        Participate (effort is what counts).

4.       FOLLOW THE TEACHER'S SIGNALS FOR ATTENTION. Whistle, call for quiet, hand signals. Regardless of the signal, when you hear or see it you should immediately STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN to what is being said.

5.       BE POLITE!!!!(It is rude to talk when someone else is talking).

6.        Show respect (for yourself, each other, and your teacher).

7.        FOLLOW THE RULES OF THE GAME OR ACTIVITY (they are designed for your safety).

8.        BRING ALL MEDICAL EXCUSES TO THE NURSE BEFORE ENTERING THE LOCKER ROOM!

9.        REMEMBER AT ALL TIMES THAT IT IS JUST A GAME!

10.     At the end of class you must wait IN THE GYM.   Failing to do so will result in a loss of credit for that day!   Exceptions:  Water and Sports Drinks.

GYM / SAFETY RULES

11.     KEEP FOOD, DRINKS, and CANDY out of the gym and locker rooms.

12.     GUM IS NOT PERMITTED AT ANYTIME OR ANYWHERE IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION (This includes the locker room before and after class).

13.     HATS AND SUNGLASSES ARE NOT PERMITTED IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION.

14.     STAY OFF THE BLEACHERS IF THEY ARE NOT PULLED OUT.

15.     LEAVE ALL EQUIPMENT ALONE THAT IS IN THE GYM OR ON THE FIELD UNLESS YOU HAVE RECEIVED SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS TO TOUCH IT FROM YOUR TEACHER.

16.     STAY AWAY FROM THE CURTAIN AND MECHANICAL DOOR. They are dangerous do not touch them or hang from them at any time.

17.     DO NOT HANG FROM THE BASKETBALL NETS OR ANY OTHER OBJECTS IN THE GYM WITHOUT SPECIFIC PERMISSION FROM YOUR TEACHER.

18.     IF YOU WEAR REGULAR EYEGLASSES THEY SHOULD HAVE SAFETY LENSES. We can, on your request, provide safety goggles.

19.     JEWELRY AND WATCHES SHOULD BE REMOVED BEFORE CLASS AND LOCKED IN YOUR LOCKERS (particularly loose hanging jewelry).

20.    IF YOU ARE INJURED DURING CLASS TELL YOUR TEACHER IMMEDIATELY.

21.    IF SOMEONE ELSE IS INJURED DURING CLASS TELL YOUR TEACHER, NEVER TOUCH ANYONE THAT IS HURT WITHOUT THE TEACHER'S PERMISSION.

22.    Fire Drill Procedures:  All students exit the building through the gym lobby doors.

23.    Lockdown Procedures:  All students report to the locker room with your teacher.   

  

LOCKER ROOM RULES

24.     ENTER AND LEAVE THE LOCKER ROOM THROUGH THE DOORS IN THE MIDDLE GYM.

25.     GLASS SHOULD NOT BE BROUGHT INTO THE LOCKER ROOM AT ANY TIME (cologne and perfume should be in plastic bottles).

26.     DO NOT RUN AT ANY TIME IN THE LOCKER ROOM. 

27.     DO NOT STAND ON THE BENCHES.

28.     LOCK YOUR LOCKERS, SPIN THE DIAL, AND PULL DOWN ON YOUR LOCK EVERY TIME.

29.     DO NOT GIVE YOUR COMBINATION TO ANYONE!

30.     LOST LOCKS and BROKEN LOCKS COST $5, AND MUST BE REPLACED (your lock cannot be "stolen" if you follow the 2 previous rules).

31.     DON’T SHARE LOCKERS!

32.     LOCKER COMBINATIONS WILL BE GIVEN TO LOCKER OWNER ONLY! You will receive the combinations one time! Consequences will occur for those that continue to forget combinations.

Any athlete that does not participate in Physical Education at an acceptable level of effort, or that is removed from class for behavior is ineligible for practice or a game that day.

 

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE ACTIVITIES PHYSICAL EDUCATION HAS SOME INHERENT PHYSICAL RISKS. Minor and even potentially serious injury can occur from participation in this or any physical activity. These risks are greatly reduced if you use common sense, are always safety conscious, and always follow the rules of the activities.

 

I understand the rules and the numerical grading policy that have been listed and reviewed on these pages. I also understand that breaking any rule on either side of this page can result in disciplinary action, and or loss of credit for class.
