Parent Involvement Before a child can start the EDK program, his/her parent must attend an informational meeting. At this meeting, an EDK Parent Contract is signed which explains the parent responsibilities. The following is a list of parent obligations: 1. Create a structured home environment that has children coming to school clean, rested, fed and ready to learn. 2. Make sure your child comes to school every day. (Poor attendance will result in being released from the EDK program.) 3, Work nightly with your child on homework and other activities to strengthen your child's skills. 4. Work closely with the staff of the EDK program to maintain effective home-school communications. This includes communicating via telephone and/or the orange EDK folder on a regular basis. 5. Actively participate in the orientation session for the EDK program. 6. Actively participate in at least one parent education program. 7. Volunteer in the classroom or support classroom activities when possible.
