About The
Program Extended Day Kindergarten is an Academic Intervention program for Kindergarten children who are having difficulty acquiring Language Arts skills. The children enrolled in EDK attend school for a full day--half day in regular Kindergarten and half day in EDK. The children eat lunch in the cafeteria between their two classes. The EDK assistant accompanies them to lunch everyday. The EDK program strictly covers Language Arts skills. We concentrate on promoting early literacy skills such as letter recognition, letter/sound recognition, rhyming, etc. All specials and parties are held in regular Kindergarten classes only! The class size is limited to 15 children. The small number of children enables the teacher and the EDK assistant to provide more individual instruction to the children. We provide many exciting hands-on activities in EDK. Language Arts centers are an integral part of our program. We engage in center activities every day! The EDK program is a wonderful opportunity to help your child to be more successful in school. They will learn and grow as a student, and they will have a great time too!
