Franklin Delano Roosevelt was born at his family's Estate at Hyde Park, in Dutchess County, New York.

Dutchess County is now is known as a historic site. Many people go there on vacations.

A major attraction in New York is the Statue of Liberty. This statue is located in New York City and was constructed in 1875. It was originally named after " Liberty Enlightening the World".

The Statue of Liberty was built by Auguste Bartholdi. It was declared a national monument in 1924.

The statue represents freedom for immigrants that come from other countries. They had to come through Ellis Island where the statue is located.

Ellis Island is the way all people had to go through to get into this free country, the United States. If they had any diseases or sicknesses they were sent back to their country. If the didn't, they were free to live in the United States.

Another New York State attraction is the beautiful Niagara Falls. It is located in western New York, and in the province of Ontario, Canada.

Niagara Falls is famous for its generating of electricity. It is one of the most famous tourist  attractions in New York State

New York also has two famous baseball teams. They are the New York Mets and the New York Yankees.

The Yankees have won 24 World Series Championships and 35 league pennants. No other major league team in the NBL (National Baseball League) has been as successful.

There is also the New York Knicks. They are New York's famous basketball team. . The New York Knicks are  one of the most popular basketball teams in the NBL.

Another famous attraction in New York State is the Bronx  Zoo, which was established in 1874. This is a very popular place. There are many animals in this large zoo.
