Writing Workshop

In October our class began our "Writing Workshop".  ABC books are a fun and easy way to begin as an author.  The students did their best to sound-spell and "stretch out" their words.  
Then they added details, details, details!!

Sometimes we conference with a friend to help us with ideas for our 
story or illustrations.

Becoming authors and illustrators can be lots of fun in first grade. 

Students are allowed to find a nice working space in our room.  This student has chosen the writing center to work on her book.  

Students are encouraged to try spelling in three different ways during writing workshop.  1: sound spell it   2: stretch the word out    3: Find it spelled correctly somewhere in the room.  
This student uses his writing folder to help him spell one of his words correctly.
