• Purpose: Book Treasures  is a web site intended to share many kinds of children's literature.  Included are select titles, student critiques, extension activities, the bibliography, and links to related sites. It is designed to be most appropriate for primary level learners.
   

• Learning Outcomes: This site supports the New York State Learning Standards for English Language Arts. Standard Two focuses on the use of language for literary response and expression. Learners will receive suggestions for reading and literary response which involve comprehension, interpretation, and critiquing texts of various genres.  The recognition of texts of different genres and the personal response options in this site add to the understanding of the reading for the learner.
   
• How to Use Book Treasures : Viewers begin by opening the map on the home page. Click on any of the given locations. There are many options given at each location focused on a particular genre. A particular book will be highlighted as a suggested reading. Book critiques will be available to  be reviewed. Forms are available to print out focusing on literary elements and response. Viewers can submit further reading suggestions, critiques, and written responses. Book project ideas are given as a way to creatively respond to the reading.  Each location includes different extension activities to enjoy.  The map holds many surprises!
